REQUIREMENTS

CONTEST TIME PERIOD:

November 5, 2018 - January 19, 2019

SUBMISSIONS:

Entries are only accepted through our website’s submission system. We no longer accepting entries via the post office.

DEADLINE:

Entries must be submitted by Edgar Allan Poe’s Birthday: January 19, 2019

JUDGING

All poems are presented anonymously to the judges. Judges for each category will be announced with the winners.

RULES:

1. All entries must be in English, unpublished, original, and not scheduled for publication before 01 May, 2019. Author retains copyright.

2. Poems that have previously won a monetary award in a PSoV contest are ineligible. Submit only one poem per category. No poem may be entered in more than one category

3. Members of PSoV do not pay an entry fee. Non-member fee is $5 for each poem entered, payable online.

4. Entrants may only enter one poem per category, and a specific poem may only be entered in one category. All entries not in compliance with category specifications will be disqualified.

5. Winning poems will be read and honored at the Poetry Society of Virginia Awards Ceremony in the Spring of 2019. The location and date will be announced with the winners.

6. Winning poems will be published on the Poetry Society of Virginia website and annual journal unless otherwise requested by the poet.
