The Poetry Society of Virginia Annual Adult Contest
Deadline: January 19, 2010 (postmark) Edgar Allan Poes Birthday
RULES FOR 2010 CONTEST
1. Entries not compliant will be disqualified. No exceptions.
2. All entries except Category 23 must be in English, original, unpublished, and not scheduled for publication before April, 2010. Author retains copyright. Poems that have previously won a monetary award in a PSV contest are ineligible.
3. Only one poem per category. Any poem may be entered in only one category.
4. Submit two copies of each poem. Both copies must have the category name and number on top left of page. Only one copy must have poets name, address, e-mail address if any, and phone number on top right of page, as well as membership status in the PSV.
5. Entries must be typed. Use white 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
6. Entries will not be returned.
7. Entries must be postmarked between Nov.1, 2009, and Jan. 19, 2010, and must include entered poems and any fees required from non-members. Entries will NOT be accepted by e-mail, special delivery, certified, registered, FedEx or UPS. Entries which do not have a return address on the envelope will be discarded.
8. Non-members entry fee: $4.00 per poem. Checks should be made out to: The Poetry Society of Virginia.
9. Send all entries in one envelope. Please write a single check to cover all entered contest categories. If you are joining the PSV, your separate dues check allows you to waive nonmember entry fees.
10. If you wish to join the Society, you may send your separate dues check and application along with your entries to the Contest. Do NOT send contest entries to the Membership Chair, or by e-mail.
11. Winning entries will be announced at the Societys Awards meeting April 17, 2010 in Richmond.
12. Winners names will be posted on the PSV website. If you do not want your name posted, write Do Not Post with your address.
