Poetry Society of Virginia 2010 Student Contest Awards Ceremony
The Poetry Society of Virginia and the 2010 Student Contest Committee would like to thank the judges who participated in this event, and everyone who has contributed help, advice and encouragement throughout this year’s contest. We appreciate all the time, energy and the enthusiasm that you give to the students who entered the contest. We especially acknowledge all the teachers who have inspired their students to write and submit their work to the contest.

Winners will be notified in advance, and invited to attend the awards ceremony in Richmond. ENTRY RULES:
1. All entries must be in English, original and unpublished. Author retains copyright.
2. Poems that have previously won an award in a PSV contest may not be entered. Poems submitted to the PSV Student Contest cannot also be submitted to the PSV Adult Contest.
3. Submit TWO copies of each poem. NO personal information should appear on either sheet.
4. Please include a cover sheet containing: Grade-level category or prize category being entered, Poem name, Poet’s name, Address (School or Student), E-mail address (student & teacher), Phone number (student & teacher), School, teacher’s name and grade level . (If school policy prohibits release of a student's full name, a teacher's name as a contact is needed.)
5. ONE poem per student per category. A poem may be entered in only one category.
6. To be considered, poems must include an “original work verification statement" on the cover sheet. (Example: This is my original poem. I wrote it by myself.)
7. Entries, including the cover sheet , must be typed or computer printed on 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
8. Entries will not be returned.
9. Entries must be postmarked no later than January 19, 2010. Entries will NOT be accepted by e-mail, special delivery, certified or registered mail, FEDEX or UPS.
Winning poems may be published on our website. If you do not want your poem published, please write "Do not publish" below your name and address.
