Rainforest

                   Quiet

Rain drips on the ground, gathering in

puddles and streams.

Butterflies flap in the sky,

their black bodies carried by blue wings.

Little seeds sprout into vines

that cling to trees

and climb to the sun,

their stringy purple petals

curling around.

                   Loud

Cicadas croak and sing

like a choir humming.

Howler monkeys scream their warnings

to the other monkeys,

asking for a fight.

Explorers step on crunchy leaves

and snap twigs.

Chainsaws roar

as birds call out.

Animals stranded

and quiet.
