Albatross Poetry Journal is an independent literary publication operated by Anabiosis Press. The journal, in existence since 1985, takes its name and thematic inspiration from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, focusing heavily on eco-poetry, nature, and the allegorical relationship between humans and the environment.
Submissions period is open year-round for original poetry, essays, and artwork, such as woodcut prints, with an emphasis on nature and eco-consciousness. It is strongly advised to look at an issue or two of Albatross to see what we mean by “nature poetry” before sending whatever nature poem you have written.
Submissions are accepted by email. Submit up to 5 poems at a time and no more than one submission per month to rsmyth@anabiosispress.org.
Poems should not exceed 200 lines. Include name, address, and telephone number if these do not already appear in your signature line. Also, please include a brief biographical note as an introduction. Be sure to INCLUDE POEMS IN THE BODY OF THE MESSAGE. Do NOT send any attachments, unless they are image files for a submission of artwork and no simultaneous submissions please.
